The collection of Street Fighter is a product from Capcom which is a Japanese-owned video game company. The first version of Street Fighter appeared in 1987. Why Street Fighter II was so popular?
Street Fighter was not the first one to one fighting video game, but it almost made a selling miracle at Capcom Company. There was a marketing research. Street Fighter II was the best selling game in Capcom and it sold more than 6.3 million units until 2008. It got the name of “Most Cloned Fighting Game”.
Street Fighter II got this successful achievement didn’t mean it just got a good luck. Street Fighter II was following several principles of the best game.
Street Fighter II was an innovative game.
The fighting game boom during the 1990s.Street Fighter II was not only the fighting game but also integrate into story for the game. If the game just supplely point out just fighting, the player would be boring swiftly. Street Fighter II was revolving round the character’s adventure. The game also offered the players a selection of multiple playable characters, each with their own unique fighting style and special moves. Learning more fighting skills through playing the game was not enough. In the game, each character had some special martial movement which was hidden and had to be draw out by knowing the character’s story.

The back-story of each single character were conveyed through promotional material, such as trading cards and articles in gaming magazine, and partly through the game itself, in which key information is related to winners. Because these abundant matters, animation movie, Manga and comic that related products came into the marketing.

More player became the fans and be more crazy about the game.

"Like a fable, orally told and passed down" from fan to fan.-- the words of Don Friedman, licensing executive at Capcom

And that make the player happy to get the new tips of the game.
Between the fans’ communication and share the idea, it also improved the game and let the company knew how the audience feel and improved the game. Street Fighter II successfully leaded to a series of update version game and each revised version were offered additional features and characters.

Making your target audience happy and collecting feedback to improve the game are parts of principles of best game.

Why fighting game becomes popular one of the reasons is the stress. Through beating someone in the game, the player could release pressure in their living. Economic Depression aggravated the pressure in society. People prefer played game to enrich their entertainment.

Street Fighter was originally released on coin-operated arcade games. With the development of the technology, the platform of Street Fighter II was changing.

The very first home version produced by Capcom was the SNES version of Street Fighter II: The World Warrior , released on June 10, 1992 in Japan and in July in North America .[6]
In 1993 , a PC-Engine version of Street Fighter II Dash was produced by Capcom and licensed to NEC Avenue and released in Japan on June 12.[6]

The quality of the animation and the sound effect in Street Fighter became better.
In 1991, Capcom threw the 16bit arcade game CPS into the market and it became popular. With the arcade CPS coming out, Street Fighter II was coming. At that time, the clear version of Action game and Shooting game were the mainstream game. Street Fighter II was not expected highly but it got a high selling number.

There were only eight characters that you can pick in Street Fighter II: Ryu, Ken, Guile, Chung Li. Blanka, E.Honda, Dhalsim and Zangief. The fighting mode was around these characters’ story to against different enemy and bosses.

Because these multiple narrative, the game will change into different fighting mode with different fighting background. The graphics in Street Fighter were advanced for that time.

The limited GIF palettes were doing well for an entire game lever while factoring variable characters with their own colours. The shadow which following the character’s movement on the floor and the objects would do the feedback action with the main character was fighting. With different fighting style, the effect will be different. All the scenes were alive with the animation.

The sound and music improve a lot at Street Fighter II. When the player was playing the game, he had to listen the game music hours and hours so that making that sound became a logo for the game must be a daunting task. The music should be appealing but it can’t be distracting the player. It also should be muzak and jingle. In Street Fighter II, the sound would change by different character selection and the sound effect showed to the point when the character doing some special movement while fighting.

Conclusion: To be innovation, having story line, making your target audience happy and collecting feedback to improve the game, connecting with human experience, and depend on the platform are parts of the principles of the best game. Street Fighter II is following these principles to become a successful and remarkable video game.
Compare Street Fighter II with Tekken
There two big fighting games are always being the top at Fighting Game – Street Fighter II and Tekken.
Tekken was one of the earliest 3D fighting game. Characters would be the 3D model but actual game play would be in 2D. Even though the brillante continuity attack was one of the selling points of Tekken, most of game modes were copy Street Fighter II like the character’s story mode, martial fighting, multiracial cast, and the “Combo” system.

My own experience of Street Fighter II:
In my opinion, I think Street Fighter II is a Canon game.
To be honest, I am not good at playing game. If the game got a complicated manipulate, it can’t attract me to play a long time. However, I immersed myself in this game.
It is twenty two years old, has appeared as a reference almost every similar beating game. Of course, it is Street Fighter.
The reason is Street Fighter II almost the “Super Mario” in Fighting games. Street Fighter II builds up the principles for the fighting game.
The most attracting thing of Street Fighter II is the “Combo” fighting system. Though pressing different bottoms of light, middle, heavy, kick and punch combine with the successive attack. It is the most fantasy place and the animation of attacking do a really great job. It brings a fresh feeling for fighting game instead of using a single move.
The sound effect of each character leaves me a strong impression. When I was playing, I made the same sound unconsciously. The sounds make me feel I get more power and I can knock down the opponent.

In short, I think Street Fight II is a Canon game. It is a class fighting game that was important to the video game history.
